It's Christmas Day!

Overcast and 23 degrees.

There was no additional accumulation of snow overnight.

Tom beat me to it!

*********************************

Yesterday was one of the reasons I love living here!

Yes - I saw some wonderful old friends and shared memories going back 42 years, but it was also a spectacular day in the country!

The rime that had blanketed Paris Hill, yesterday, had spread southward, and this is what the trees looked like as I began the drive up Craigfoot Road.

Whe I reached the 5 corners, I headed straight ahead, up Tubbs Road.

The scenery was a magnificent Christmas gift and reminded my why I don't want to be in Florida!

************

At the same time, Jim Cieslak was taking pictures up on Skyline Drive, West of Deansboro, and he sent me these photographs to share with you:

(Thanks loads, Jim!)

It was dusk when I drove past Carol Gloss' little house overlooking Bailey Lake .......

............ and I made my daily pass up Putnam Street, stopping to enjoy the Verdons' light / music display! (If you haven't taken time to do that, yet, it's worth your while to drive up Putnam Sreet, pull over to the curb, tune your radio to 87.9 FM and listen to the music. THEN the pattern of lights will make sense!

**************************************

I'll be having "Christmas" again tomorrow with my daughter, Allison, her husband, Rick, and my grandson, Iain, at their home in Ballston Lake.

No blog post on Monday, but check back on Tuesday morning.

Enjoy your vacations and drive safely!

Good Christmas Eve Morning!

It's 23 degrees and overcast.

WKTV's morning weather forecast: "Clouds will be stubborn to break today with some low level moisture lingering about. We'll likely see a few peeks of sunshine slowly develop this afternoon.

Expect chilly conditions this evening and overnight. Temperatures will fall back into the teens if you will be out later this evening to church services. We expect dry conditions.

A weak upper level trough will dive into the interior northeast for later tomorrow and Sunday, giving us the chance for some light snow showers. A much larger storm will track close to the coast on Sunday and Monday. The storm still looks to pass to the east of CNY, but will likely bring an accumulating snow to portions of Massachusetts and Long Island.

Chilly conditions early next week will give way to milder weather before the first of the year."

He's on his way, and as of 7:47, this was Santa's position.

Merry Christmas to all of you!

Thursday evening

It's 23 degrees and just an occasional bit of snow/sleet.
(Is that called sneet?)

I think it will make for some nice sliding!

**************

And there's a sled on the porch of this prize-winner, on Elmwood!

(See The Waterville Times for all the Waterville Garden Club Decorating Contest winners!)

Main Street and the Post Office / Dollar General parking lots were
as crowded as the one at CVS!

West of Sangerfield on Route 20, a "conga line" of two State snowplows were clearing the two- or three-inch accumulation of snow. You can see that there's rime on the trees .........

........... but it was nothing like the frosting that I found in Hanover, a mile or two north of the village.

There, the frozen fog was nearly an inch thick on twigs and weeds and it was a beautiful sight!

At the very "top" of Shanley Road, a super-sized greeting card!

Later, this afternoon, this was the view of "downtown" Sangerfield
from Newberry Road!

**********************************

WKTV's afternoon forecast: "Light snow continues to fall across Central New York today. Snowfall today will be on the lighter side, but enough to accumulate. A general trace to 2" regionwide will fall today. Snow showers come to an end this evening.

Some sunshine mixed with clouds on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. A storm will track close to the coast on Sunday and Monday. The storm looks to pass to the east , but may be close enough to give us snow. There are still many question marks about the track of the storm, so stay tuned!

Everyone seems to be talking about "Casey," but I have not heard that she's been found or even seen, so please continue to be on the lookout for her!

Have a nice evening, everyone!

Thursday morning

Garbage Day!

It's 22.8 degrees at 5:45 with light snow falling
and an overnight accumulation of about two inches.

************************

There is still no word on Casey's whereabouts
despite day-long searches by many friends, and Jennifer Neff has asked me
to post the family pet's picture again.

"Casey is 15 and 1/2 years old, is partially blind, deaf and very disoriented because of her age. She has a large spot (mole/wart) on her forehead and a large lump on her right side near her back leg. Don gave Casey to me as a puppy for Christmas 15 years ago, we really are hoping for a Christmas miracle. "

Is it Wednesday already?

That must mean that

tomorrow is GARBAGE DAY!!

****************

Right now it's 25 degrees and it's "spitting" icy snow bits.
It has been doing that most of the day and there's very little accumulation.

IN THE NEWS

WCS Boys' Varsity Basketball hosts Morrisville this evening at 7:30

**************

There is still no word on "Casey."

**************

I apologize to everyone who is looking forward to new photographs, but I have barely left my computer, today. Nothing's wrong with it - or me! - but I had several projects that I wanted to finish and then helped out someone else with a fun Photoshop project.

Between those projects I cooked little "elf" goodies and wrote more Christmas cards to put into the mail in the morning and
finished this card, for all of you!

Merry Christmas, Everyone!

***********************************

Afterthought.

A few weeks ago I had thoughts of making a "blog" calendar and began going through past years' January posts to pick out some favorite photographs.

The calendar, of course, never materialized ---- perhaps it will next year! In the meantime, here are (at least) a few pictures for you to look at.

Antique shop in Bouckville.

A lock on the Chenango Canal.

The Congregational church at Paris Green.

The swing tree in winter.

Barn in Augusta.

More tomorrow, maybe!

If YOU have particular favorites, please let me know --- perhaps some sort of publication will result!

************************

Have a good evening!

Please Help find "Casey"!

"Casey" Neff

In my morning mail was a letter from Jennifer Neff asking for blog-readers' help:

" Our 15 1/2 year old black lab,Casey, slipped out of her collar from our back yard on Berrill Ave. around 7 pm on December 21.

We had a search party looking for her until after 10 pm with no luck. We are hoping someone took her in. She is partially blind, deaf and very disoriented because of her age. She has a large spot (mole/wart) on her forehead and a large lump on her right side near her back leg. Don gave Casey to me as a puppy for Christmas 15 years ago, we really are hoping for a Christmas miracle. "

Please phone 841-4943

or Email the blogger if you have any information!
